RADOV 12M Annual Meeting

The EU project RADOV held its annual meeting after the first year of the project implementation at the AGH University of Science and Technology, Cracow, Poland on 19th of September 2023. 14 participants from 5 countries representing the institutions and companies participating in RADOV met to discuss the results obtained in the first year of the project implementation and to plan activities for the coming year. The six WPs including 19 tasks were presented and discussed and the Steering Committee (SC) meeting was held. The first year of the RADOV was devoted to very intensive experimental work. Around 600 samples were irradiated with gamma rays and electron beam to study the influence of irradiation conditions on protein fragmentation. Different irradiation conditions, such as dose, dose rate, physical state and atmosphere, were investigated for the three egg-derived proteins, lysozyme, ovotransferrin and ovalbumin, in order to determine the optimal conditions for the production of bioactive peptides. Moreover, two products: hydrogel wound dressing and packaging foil that contain bioactive proteins or peptides are being developed simultaneously. Apart from scientific issues also project management, communication and dissemination activities, formal and financial aspects of the RADOV were discussed.

Additionally, the activity of the Innovation and Quality Management Board (IQMB) who supports research team in the appropriate transfer of know-how and selection of the products and technologies for further development was reported. The event was closed with the SC meeting.
