The scientific conference titled "The Role of Women in the Atom: The Past, The Present, The Future" took place in the Polish Parliament (Sejm) on November 18, 2024, commemorating the 90th anniversary of the death of Maria Skłodowska-Curie. The conference was opened by the Marshal of the Senate, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, who emphasized that women are transforming the landscape of science, medicine, and energy. She highlighted the significance of the conference's topic, which focuses on leveraging past achievements to create a safer future in both energy and medical progress. Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska noted that universities, scientific institutions, and research companies are increasingly welcoming women, providing them with exceptional opportunities for development, which they are fully utilizing. "I am convinced that the role of women in ensuring security in these and other areas is and will be substantial," she stated.

During the conference, women working in the fields of nuclear energy and radiation showcased their research. Dagmara Chmielewska-Śmietanko delivered a lecture titled "The Legacy of Maria Skłodowska-Curie as an Inspiration for Research Conducted at the Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology." The RADOV project was presented as an example of initiatives led by women at the INCT. It was also emphasized that women serve as principal investigators in more than 70% of the projects at the INCT, a notable achievement in the STEM field.
