Technical visits of the Radiation Sterilisation and Microbiological Decontamination School participants at the INCT
12.12.2025
Two technical visits at the Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology were organized as a follow-up to the eighteenth edition of the Radiation Sterilisation and Microbiological Decontamination School, which was held remotely. This was a rare opportunity for participants to become acquainted with the unique infrastructure of the INCT. During the visits, attendees were provided with detailed insights into the irradiation process at the Sterilization Plant. They learned about the principles of the accelerator construction and had the chance to see the machines on-site. The next part of the visit included a presentation on the Gamma Cell and the activities of the Laboratory for Measurements of Technological Doses, which is responsible for monitoring the irradiation process. The visits began with a brief overview of the infrastructure at the RAPID Center for Radiation Research and Technology. This included information about the newly installed DZ 10/20 accelerator, which offers an energy of 10 MeV and a power output of 20 kW. The presentation also highlighted a projects implemented using the accelerators, with RADOV among them.
